If when I say “Wabi Sabi” you are picturing the spicy green stuff that comes with your sushi, that’s not quite right. That’s Wasabi. I like sushi, but wasabi isn’t really my thing. But Wabi Sabi is definitely something I can get down with. In simple terms, Wabi Sabi is the art of embracing and appreciating imperfection.
Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It’s a gift to the world and every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got.
Resistance deforms our spirit. It stunts us and makes us less than we are and were born to be. It prevents us from achieving the life God intended when He endowed each of us with our own unique genius.
But then a better thought occurred, and this was the one I carried away with me that day: If my life was to be just a single note in an endless symphony, how could I not sound it out for as long and as loudly as I could?
