Find The Burn

I’ve often lost myself in order to find the burn that keeps everything awake. ~ Federico Garcia Lorca

Scribbling Away

It’s 3 am, can’t sleep again
So I scribble away through the dark with my pen.

I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine. ~ Emily Dickinson

As Necessary As Bread

260

Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry. ~ Mary Oliver

A Time To Dream

320

I love the rich earthy smell
right after a storm,
The flavor of heartaches
washed away with
the rain,
The feel of the wind
dancing around me
as I walk barefoot
in tall damp grass.
This is the time to dream,
with misty rainbows and
a pale sun in the distant sky,
And an orange glow to
light my way back home.
