A Christmas Melody by Anita Stansfield

Publisher: Covenant Communications Inc (November 1, 1998)

Paperback : 219 pages

ISBN: 978-1577343356

Dedication: This book is dedicated to anyone who has ever hated Christmas.

And written with heartfelt gratitude to my father…for giving his children the spirit of Christmas.

I’m glad you finally got your little wagon.

Thoughts: This book has become a Christmas tradition for me. It’s one of those feel-good stories that you want to come back to over and over again.

It is a bit dated now. It was published in 1998 when Blockbuster Video was still in its heyday. But the messages in the book are gold, and the feels you get as the love grows are just what I look for in a clean romance novel.

*FYI this book has a lot of references to LDS culture that may be difficult to follow if you are unfamiliar with those things.

First sentence: Thanksgiving was less than two weeks away.

Favorite Quote From the Book: Next time you’re afraid, honey, you just imagine one of these heroes standing guard at your bedroom door. I know that angels are real, child. I’ve felt their presence in my life.

Summary from Amazon.com:

For twenty-year-old Melody Morgan, Christmas is nothing but a source of shame and embarrassment – just like all the other holidays in her life. She has grown up hating special days – and Christmas is the worst of all.

Then Matthew Trevor walks into her life one November afternoon and turns her world upside down. For Matthew, it’s love at first sight. But how can this handsome, upbeat returned missionary possibly know about the dark, desperate side of Melody’s life – and once he finds out, will he still love her?

This is not just a Christmas story. It’s a touching novel of discovery, renewal, and commitment to eternal principles of love and faith. What Melody learns about Christmas – and about herself – is the greatest gift of all. You’ll be charmed and moved by this sweet and satisfying adventure of the heart. And along the way, you’ll gain a new appreciation for the spirit and wonder of Christmas.
