Faces Song

468

Estimated Reading Time 1 Minutes

Sometimes when I close my eyes

faces come to mind,

of people who have touched my life

Along the paths of time.

I see a long-lost smile. I feel an old embrace

My chest swells in wistfulness

At the memory of a face.

For so many of the people

Who’ve left marks upon my mind

Are no longer with me

Our journeys no longer align.

I carry moments with me

My heart holds traces of their grace.

Sometimes when I close my eyes

I still will see a face.

Often memories bring to mind

A loved one who’s passed on

Yet many pangs inside my breast

Recall a living bond.

Pain dances next to pleasure

Within this poignant space

But I’ll gladly experience sadness

For the joy of a loved one’s face.

Hearts that left their mark on mine

With an edifying glow

Keep a fire burning deep

strengthening my soul.

Sometimes when I close my eyes

faces come to mind,

of people who have touched my life

Along the paths of time.

I see a long-lost smile. I feel an old embrace

My chest swells in wistfulness

At the memory of a face.
