Difficult emotions: anger, sadness, worry, or shame, etc. use up a lot of energy and brain power. Rather than letting them take over, write down exactly how you feel. Get it all out, then crumple up the paper and throw it in the trash. It helps you define your experience so things become clear. It helps you accept what you are feeling so you can move forward. Plus the action of tossing those difficult emotions in the trash feels great!
